I generally gauge a firearm by what I would change out of the box. Would I stipple the grip? Would I want to modify the trigger? Do I feel the need to enhance the functionality of the firearm? I’d have to say that the Canik TP9SF is one of the most serviceable, stock out of the box, firearms that I have had the pleasure to run. I really enjoyed the ergonomics, the grip, the texturing, the back strap, the overall feel over the firearm. The stock trigger is exceptional, very little take up to the wall with an extremely clean break and the reset was both audible and tactile. The learning curve with this firearm is non-existent. I truly felt like it was an extension of myself. I was questioning my first 18 rounds from 10 yards out. I had key holed so many rounds that I was concerned that I had, somehow, missed the target. The accuracy and overall shooting experience rivals firearms that cost 3 times as much. There are a lot of guns that I have liked over the years, but there are few that I felt like I had to have. The Canik TP9SF is one of those must haves and it has found a new home with me! Stay frosty and keep shooting.
